The doors to our workshop in Mangawhai opened in 2007 and we’ve been growing the business ever since.
Jackson Brown is more than a business. Churning out 9-5 and waiting for Sunday is not for us, we genuinely love what we do. Everyone on the team is committed to providing a top service to the community. We call it giving a damn – about what we do, and how we do it.
Our family and friends live nearby, and that’s something we will always respect. Caring for the community is important to us, so we’ve made it our business to sponsor as many groups as possible. We’ve been chipping in to help the fishing club, golf club, primary school, Mangawhai Activity Zone, and several others in between.

Owner/Automotive Service manager
Two of James favourite words at work are ‘quality’ and ‘convenience’. Because that’s exactly what every client deserves. It’s an aquatic playground in Mangawhai so when he’s not at the helm, you’ll find him on the water. James won’t turn down an Export 33 on a hot day, and its surfing before fishing any day!
Owner/Marine Service Manager
It’s a simple philosophy that has seen Jackson Brown succeed – Matt calls it, ‘doing the job right’. Right means providing a friendly and interactive experience for clients. The beach, nature and community are Matt’s happy things outside of work, as is a McLeods Ale! Its Holden over Ford for this business partner.
Expect a warm welcome and strong communication throughout the job, because Fiona is a star with the details. Feel free to bribe her with chocolate, we do! A local knows that Mangawhai Activity Zone (MAZ) is THE place for the kids, and Fiona hits the park (and local cafes) regularly.
Marine Service Advisor
Damon reckons it’s a great experience that makes all the difference. He wants customers to leave JB knowing they can trust the job 100% and they’ve dealt with experts. The Mangawhai butchery gets the thumbs up from Damon, as do local fishing spots. Catch of the day is washed down with a cold beer.
Senior Marine/Outboard Technician
Keeping your boat up to scratch requires quality workmanship – and that’s exactly what Matt promises, along with a broad range of skills. Why sit in traffic to get to work? Matt loves the ease of small town living. He’s also pretty chuffed with the local fishing spots, Export 33 in one hand, rod in the other.
Honesty and integrity is what you can expect when dealing with Mike, and the team know he’s all about working efficiently. In no particular order, Mangawhai Beach, Bennetts and MAZ are a few of his favourite things, followed by a round at the bar – his shout!
Keep the lines of communication open at all times, that’s what customers appreciate about Keith, and it’s a formula he stands by. It’s the lifestyle that draws him to Mangawhai, plus a cold beer at the local Bowling Club.
Mak’s work ethic is all about “no hassles”. Keeping it relaxed for customers and guaranteeing a good job. Sounds simple? Well maybe, but it’s Mak’s mission to always keep it that way. He’s a Matakana lad, but that’s just down the road, so we’re okay with that. He can drink his Billy Mav’s down there!
Karl strives for excellence in his workmanship and is a dab hand at the guitar. It’s a diverse role and he enjoys it very much. Karl’s a fan of the quiet life, and he reckons Mangawhai’s coasty vibe and laidback community is just the ticket after a busy week in the workshop.
Rolling up his sleeves and helping the lads, that’s Cameron’s attitude at JB. The cars don’t wash themselves, and there’s always a job to do and learn on. It’s a busy role with a strong focus on learning. Mangawhai’s community of good-sorts and the ocean waves hold Cameron’s attention when he’s not at work.
